Paul Dumas was a textile manufacturer in the early 1900, printing for Paul Poiret's Atalier Martine, which opened it's first store in Paris 1912, and which vidid and invigorating works caused a sensation at Salon Des Artistes Décorateurs, 1912.

send out to sketch in the countryside, at fruit and vegetable markets, botanical gardens and paris aquarium, the girls Poiret plucked, was from humble backgrounds, lacking any artistic education and never formerly trained, to find inspiration. Poiret's aim was to nurture the girls instinctive creativity and foster an authentic modern school of 'folk art'.
